As soon as we hang our hat on past accomplishments, we’re hanging our hats up - we’re done. And, the fact is, promises haven’t been kept. There’s too much left to do.
NEGAUNEE, Mich. -- Northern Michigan and the UP smashed primary voter turnout records. Of all contested primaries, Dana Ferguson had the most Democratic votes of a non-incumbent in the history of the district and swept every single one of MI01's 32 counties—the second largest district east of the Mississippi. On Aug 4, he had the largest victory of any US Congressional candidate who would face an incumbent in the general.
This week he and his team are lock-step, wasting no time to shock in the general election.
DANA FROM THE OFFICE:
We hear all the time politicians blame others for lack of progress. It’s so easy to pass off criticism for failures and accept praise for mediocre successes. But, voters see through that.
This job isn’t about showing up when it’s politically expedient and hiding when it’s not. It's about standing up for the people we represent, not just for those in our corner rooting us on, but every one of us in the district.
The failures of the past are the failures of the past. Real leaders take ownership of things unfinished. But still, it says nothing about the future. Voters really have to ask themselves in November if they’ve actually, truly have been served well by their elected officials.
Then it’s on leaders to either grow from their shortcomings, adapt and become part of the change citizens are yearning for, or if it’s time to step aside and allow others to take over and move us forward. I’m ready to move us forward.
Because as soon as we hang our hat on past accomplishments, we’re hanging our hats up - we’re done. And, the fact is, promises haven’t been kept. There’s too much left to do. I want to see progress. That's it. That's why I'm running for Congress.
Whether you you love me, hate me, agree with me or disagree with me, I will work for you. If you ridicule me, insult me, praise me or advise me, I will listen to you. Whereever you live and whatever you do, I am running for Congress, for you.
Change does not start with the next person. It starts right here, right now. It starts with this campaign. It starts with you. It starts with us.
Let's take it home.
