This is what paper shredders are for

There are some organizations we don't want supporting this campaign. Anti-Union ones are among them.

NEGAUNEE, Mich. — Recently, our campaign received the anti-union National Right to Work questionnaire through certified mail.

Can you guess what I did with it?

If you guessed ripped it up and threw it away, you would be correct.

Right to Work laws are harmful to workers’ ability to unionize and weaken our ability to pass policies that support working people.

I worked as a union laborer while completing my bachelor's in Economics, and as a union carpenter after completing my master's in Public Administration at Northern Michigan University. Union work gave me opportunities to be successful in life. We need more good union paying jobs in this country so more working people can realize the American Dream.

“Right to work” policies are designed to take away rights from working people. Supporters claim these laws protect workers against being forced to join a union. In reality, federal law already makes it illegal to force someone to join a union.

The real purpose of right to work laws is to give advantage to big corporations at the expense of working families. These laws make difficult for working people to form unions and collectively bargain for better wages, benefits and working conditions.

My promise to you and all working families is that I will never support Right to Work legislation when I get to Congress.

Now more than ever, we need to be doing all we can to uplift working families and support workers’ rights to unionize.

I need you with me in this fight.

Take a moment today to support my campaign for Congress in Michigan’s 1st District.

Together, we’ll #TakeItHome for the 1st.
